NEW CPR Made Simple

The NEW American Red Cross CPR Made Simple is a non-certified course that provides individuals with a one-hour overview of the critical skills that may help them save the life of a family member, friend or co-worker. In this simplified training, lecture is kept to a minimum so that participants can focus on hands-on practice of CPR/AED skills.

While certified training is still important—especially for those employees who are part of a company’s emergency response team—CPR Made Simple makes it easy to offer training to other employees who do not need to be certified. Empower your employees to save lives with CPR Made Simple

CPR and First Aid Training

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death among adults in North America. Each year, it claims the lives of over 200,000 in the United States alone. Once every one or two minutes, another American succumbs suddenly, without warning.

While you can’t predict when an emergency will occur, you can be prepared. American Red Cross CPR and First Aid training can give you the vital knowledge and skills you need to respond to a life threatening emergency situation with confidence.

Red Cross training will teach you to:

  • Care for conscious and unconscious choking victims
  • Perform CPR
  • Give first aid for a variety of injuries, such as burns, wounds, head and neck injuries & more
  • Manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites and poisoning

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

The mission of the American Red Cross AED program is to promote and encourage public access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) – small devices that can save lives in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States, claiming approximately 220,000 lives each year. When SCA strikes, seconds mean the difference between life and death. With each minute of elapsed time before defibrillation, the survival rate of the victim diminishes by approximately 10 percent.

Now, with the latest generation of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and training from your American Red Cross, employees will be prepared to increase the odds of survival if SCA strikes a co-worker.

Your American Red Cross can assist you in every phase of creating an AED program, including:

Bloodborne Pathogen Training (also known as Univeral Precautions)

Bloodborne Pathogen Training is infection control procedures that involve the use of protective barriers. These barriers include gloves, gowns, aprons, masks and protective eyewear, which can reduce the risk of exposure. These measures also include personal hygiene practices like hand washing and the disposal of contaminated materials.

According to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) an employee with the potential for exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material (OPIM) is required Bloodborne Pathogen training annually.

Injury Control Guides

The American Red Cross has one-hour modules to help customize training for organizations or workplace companies. These new guides help control workplace injuries and health risks that cost American businesses time and money. Each module features easy-to-understand explanations and advice supported by full-color illustrations.

Class Fee: $50 per topic presented (20-30 participants)

Material Costs: Books available to purchase ($1.75/topic)

Class Locations: All classes meet at the Red Cross office at 1100 River Drive, Moline (across from the I-Wireless Center parking lot) unless otherwise noted

We have six supplemental modules available:

    Preventing Back Injuries
Helps workers assess the causes of their back pain and reduce their risk of injury through stretching and strengthening exercises, improved posture and safe lifting techniques.
    Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls
Reviews the causes of accidents, identifies common hazards and provides practical advice on shoe selection, ladder safety and injury prevention methods.
    Ergonomics
Provides information on how workers can reduce repetitive stress injuries by improving posture, rearranging work areas and doing simple on-the-job exercises.
    Your Heart Matters
Helps workers identify major lifestyle risk factors and take steps to adopt healthier behaviors that can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
    Managing Stress
Helps employees recognize their stressors, both at work and at home, and develop their own stress-reduction strategies.

These one-hour modules are great to add onto our core first aid training class. Companies that put safety at the top of the list may find these modules make great lunch and learn presentations.
