AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is a federally funded initiative, often referred to as the "domestic Peace Corps", which offers full and part-time opportunities for participants, who, in turn, provide service to communities through established programs.
Though AmeriCorps is federally funded, it is locally driven and community based - helping neighborhoods meet educational and other human needs through direct service.  Participants gain lifelong skills and receive an education award that may be used for future schooling, vocational training, or student loan repayment.

Members are certified as instructors in many Red Cross health and safety courses.  They teach classes at schools, churches, youth groups, public housing, and other organizations meeting needs of underserved populations throughout the area.  Two full time members work out of the Quad Cities Red Cross office.  For more information about becoming an AmeriCorps member or bringing AmeriCorps programs to your group, call or email Ann at (309) 743-2166.
