Kid's K.A.M.P!

The Quad
Cities chapter will host a week-long Kid’s K.A.M.P. for
kids, ages 5-10, during the following weeks:
March 16-20, 2009
June 15-19, 2009
July 13-17, 2009
K.A.M.P. is
held from 9:00 - 3:00 each day and the cost is $15 per
day or $75 for the entire week.
During Kid’s
K.A.M.P, area youth will enjoy fire safety lessons, a
tour of a fire truck, and
lessons on nutrition and healthy eating. The Red Cross
will provide lessons on safety skills, first aid, and
disaster preparedness and prevention. The K.A.M.P.
will also
feature Escape School, a role-play simulation designed
to teach children how to escape from abduction and
handle approaches from strangers. The kids will
visit an adoptable pet from the Quad City Animal Welfare
Center and learn about animal safety and
care. K.A.M.P. will end with a pizza party and movie on
Friday.
“We have
identified an important need in our community for
inexpensive, educational day camps for Quad Cities
youth. The children involved in Kids K.A.M.P. benefit
from a variety of health and safety activities ranging
from how to respond to an emergency at home to how to
make healthy snack choices. I look forward to offering
preparedness camps throughout the school year, during
holiday break times, and intercessions and summer,” says
Kim Crosby, Youth Services Coordinator for the American
Red Cross of the Quad Cities Area.
K.A.M.P. has
been
featured on KWQC TV6, WQAD TV8, CBS4, KLJB Fox 18, and
in the Quad-City Times. For more
information on K.A.M.P. call Kim at (309) 743-2166.
